Mallards

The Mallard, ancestor of almost all domestics ducks, is the most abundant wild duck in the Northern Hemisphere. They eat almost anything they find but prefer feasting on seeds.

Although known as a "dooryard" duck, the mallards that visit our yard don't stay long and only come by once in a while. During their short visits, they eat grass, sunflower chips and enjoy sitting the bird bath.
